QR Code Generator
Type a web address or any text and a QR code appears. Download it as a sharp SVG or as a PNG.
The code is made in your browser. It does not expire, because it holds your text directly and does not point to a tracking link.
How it works
A QR code stores your text as a pattern of squares. A phone camera reads the pattern and gets the same text back. This is a “static” code: what you type is what is stored, so it will keep working as long as the destination does.
The error correction level decides how much of the code can be damaged or covered and still scan. Low (L) is the smallest code and fits the most text. High (H) survives scuffs, folds or a logo placed on top, but makes the code denser. Medium (M) is a good default.
For printing, download the SVG. It stays sharp at any size. Leave a blank border around the code, and test it with a phone before you print a lot of copies. Short links make simpler codes that scan more easily.
Worked example: A poster link
Enter your page address, keep the level on Medium and download the SVG. Print it at least 2 cm (about 1 inch) wide. Scan it with two different phones before you send it to the printer.
Frequently asked questions
Does the QR code expire?
No. It stores your text directly. It only stops working if the page you point to goes away.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on downloads.
SVG or PNG?
Use SVG for print and anything that may be enlarged. Use PNG for screens and documents that do not accept SVG.
Can I add a logo?
Not in this tool. If you add one yourself in a design program, choose the High level and test the code carefully.
How much text fits?
A few thousand characters at most, but shorter is better. Long text makes a dense code that is harder to scan.
